Our Ministry Team
Rev. Barry Oakes
Barry is the pastor and has been in ministry since 1999. He previously worked in project finance. He is married to Suzanne and has three adult children. Barry enjoys reading, making furniture from wood, good coffee and watching Designated Survivor. He is passionate about engaging the Bible with daily life at the level of our hearts, and has a keen interest in church health, revitalisation and building church planting churches.
Mook graduated from MST completing his Bachelor of Ministry studies in 2016 and commenced ministry in 2017. In 2014 he married Talia and they have two children, Jethro and Amy. Mook grew up attending Korean churches and believes that it is only by the grace of God that he was saved despite the language and cultural barrier. He has served in youth groups ministering to second generation Koreans and served in a more diverse setting at Canterbury Presbyterian Church.
Mook is now the cross-cultural pastor at Ashburton Presbyterian and also oversees the youth group, young adults and music ministry.
